The Folding Carton Manufacturing Process

- Concept & die line design
A structural template is created to define folds, cut lines, flaps, windows, and glue areas. Designers and structural engineers collaborate early to balance creative vision with manufacturability. - Sheet layout & printing
Paperboard sheets are arranged with art, bleeds, color bars, and registration marks. Printing is done via lithographic, flexographic or digital processes, applying inks, coatings, and special finishes. - Post-press finishing
After printing, finishing steps like embossing, stamping, lamination, and coating are applied while sheets remain flat. - Die-cutting & blanking
Custom dies cut and crease the sheet per the die line. The cut blanks are separated from waste, and scrap is recycled. - Folding, gluing & assembly
The blanks are folded along the scored lines and glued or tucked per the carton style. Some designs require window sealing or insertion of plastic film panels.
