The Manager, Commercial Operations – eCommerce Packaging is responsible for overseeing end-to-end operational execution of the eCommerce packaging business. This includes leadership over estimating, structural design coordination, sourcing, production scheduling, and customer service functions.

This is a highly hands-on leadership role that sits at the intersection of sales and manufacturing, ensuring customer requirements are delivered efficiently, accurately, and profitably. The role plays a critical part in enabling sales growth, improving operational discipline, and enhancing the overall customer experience.

Working closely with the VP & GM, this individual will help drive performance, scalability, and process optimization across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Operations Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop a cross-functional team responsible for estimating, customer service, sourcing, and scheduling
  • Drive operational excellence across the full order lifecycle (quote to delivery)
  • Establish clear priorities, workflows, and accountability across functions
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, responsiveness, and scalability
Estimating & Pricing
  • Oversee estimating activities, including review of complex quotes and manufacturing feasibility
  • Ensure accuracy of cost inputs, including materials and production assumptions
  • Provide pricing guidance and support margin optimization
  • Maintain and enhance pricing tools and models
Structural Design Coordination
  • Review and provide direction on packaging design concepts to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness
  • Manage workflow and timelines for structural design requests
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on design improvements
Sourcing & Vendor Management
  • Act as a subject matter expert on materials (paperboard, alternatives, etc.)
  • Negotiate pricing and manage supplier relationships
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative sourcing strategies
  • Ensure timely availability of materials to meet production and customer timelines
Production Planning & Scheduling
  • Oversee production scheduling to balance capacity, customer demand, and operational constraints
  • Support resolution of complex scheduling and capacity challenges
  • Ensure alignment between customer commitments and production execution
Customer Experience & Service
  • Ensure high standards of customer service, order accuracy, and responsiveness
  • Support resolution of escalated customer issues
  • Foster a culture of accountability and service excellence
  • Monitor order progress and delivery performance against commitments
Business Performance & Strategy
  • Support the VP & GM in driving business performance, growth, and profitability
  • Analyze operational and financial data to inform decision-making
  • Contribute to resource planning, process design, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Build strong relationships with key customers and understand market needs

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, or related field
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in a manufacturing, packaging, or print environment
  • Experience in estimating, sourcing, or production coordination is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing cross-functional teams
  • Strong business and operational acumen with a focus on execution and results
  • Deep understanding of packaging, printing, or converting processes (folding carton/corrugate preferred)
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, custom manufacturing environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Hands-on, proactive leader with a “roll up your sleeves” mindset
  • Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (Dynamics AX experience is an asset)
