The Estimator is responsible to provide costs to the sales group. This position partners with sales and operations to ensure timely, accurate production estimates based on customers’ specifications. Relying on creativity and moving with a sense of urgency, the Estimator is a key member of the sales support organization who will provide solutions to help sales win news business.
Flexible schedule, salaried position of 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare quotes according to vendors’ requests and specifications
- Ensure the feasibility of the project and propose alternatives when there are constraints
- Be able to choose the most economical production methods
- Maintain good communication with account managers
- Respect deadlines for processing requests
- Request quotes from subcontractors
- Answer technical questions from account managers
- Participate in ongoing training for different types of materials
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 2 years in Estimation and Printing
- Know the market and the competition;
- Knowledge of problem-solving techniques;
- Knowledge of estimating methods;
- Know the various specific printing processes;
- Know the technical specifics of each product;
- Know the physical properties of raw materials;
- Know the new technologies, equipment and raw materials;
- Know the principles of imposition;
- Know the entire graphic production process;
- Know the quality standards according to the product and the customer;
- Know the new working methods
- Bilingual (for communications with divisions outside Quebec)
Candidate Profile
- Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) or equivalent experience in quality assurance, production or related field.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the printing or packaging industry, particularly in folding carton manufacturing is an asset.
- Good knowledge of BRCGS Packaging, HACCP, and ideally FSC standards (an asset).
- Knowledge of offset printing, cutting, folding-gluing processes is an asset.
- Mastery of office automation tools (Excel, Word) and quality systems.
- Ability to produce clear, concise, and well-structured documentation.
- Analytical mind, rigor, autonomy and ability to work in a team
