The purchasing assistant is responsible for the strategic procurement of goods and services to meet the operational needs of the company. This includes identifying needs, sourcing suppliers, negotiating terms, and ensuring timely delivery while adhering to quality standards and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure materials and services in line with cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
- Collaborate with departments to resolve supply issues affecting operations.
- Order Digital Paper:
- Check physical inventory before placing an order.
- Verify/create product identification.
- Verify product location.
- Perform physical inventory every month.
- Interact with suppliers and internal teams regarding procurement activities and projects.
- Track purchases with suppliers.
- Verify delivered quantities in the system (ERP).
- Complete material inventory.
- Monitor market trends and conduct risk and opportunity assessments.
- Analyze costs and implement cost-saving strategies.
- Manage supplier relationships and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Conduct supplier performance evaluations and manage contract compliance.
- Use the ERP system to generate purchase orders and manage inventory.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support organizational goals.
- Promote continuous improvement in procurement processes and supplier performance.
- Adhere to and share corporate values. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- 3 to 5 years of experience in Purchasing and Procurement.
- College diploma in a related field is an asset.
- Experience in the printing industry is essential.
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (positive attitude).
- Familiarity with MRP systems and procurement software (ERP).
- Occasional travel to divisions/affiliated companies.
- Effective communicator working with multiple peer groups.
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and reasoning.
- Strong team spirit.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Meticulous and detail-oriented in all areas of work.
- Able to work independently.
- Able to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
