Job Description

The Financial Analyst will work closely with the Corporate Controller, Assistant Corporate Controller and Senior Financial Analyst in managing the company’s accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures, preparing consolidated financial statements, reporting to top management and externally and performing/planning internal audits.

 

Responsibilities

 

Financial Statements and Consolidation

  • Participate in the preparation of complete and accurate monthly consolidated financial statements and prepare accounting schedules;
  • Prepare journal entries for the consolidated financial statements;
  • Participate in the preparation of the quarterly consolidated financial statements and Management’s discussion and analysis (MD&A);
  • Prepare/validate/reconcile various reports;
  • Participate in the accounting for leases (IFRS 16) and maintaining centralized fixed asset schedules.

Tax

  • Participate in the preparation of the tax provisions and tax returns;
  • Participate in the preparation of annual financial statements for all the legal entities across the organization.

 

Controls and Compliance

  • Support divisions/subsidiaries in implementing their documentation of internal control (including building and editing flowcharting and process narratives);
  • Support the review of documentation and control grids of divisions/subsidiaries;
  • Perform audit testing of controls and procedures in place in the divisions/subsidiaries.

 

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA) or in the process of obtaining the CPA designation;
  • Two or three years of relevant experience in industry and/or accounting firm;
  • Knowledge of financial controls;
  • Bilingual in English and French (oral and written);
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel is a must, and intermediate skills required in other MSOffice software.
