SupremeX Continues Commitment to the Environment
· Launches line of FSC-certified envelopes
· First envelope manufacturer in Canada to achieve both FSC and SFI certification
Montreal, QC, March 28, 2007. Supremex, Canada’s leading provider of stock and custom envelopes, announced today the launch of a new line of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified envelopes. The environmentally marked envelopes are made from FSC certified paper obtained from well-managed forests, other controlled sources and recycled fibre. One of the FSC window versions features a new sustainable and compostable window material made from corn, an annually renewable source.
Supremex customers are now able to leverage this added value certification on their physical mail communications to visually demonstrate their support for responsible forest management to their customers.
Supremex recently became the first envelope company in Canada to achieve multi-site chain-of-custody certification for both the FSC and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) environmental certification programs.
In addition to the stock envelope program, the company has begun offering clients the option of printing custom envelopes on FSC or SFI-certified papers. The certification enables ten Supremex facilities from coast to coast to print either the FSC or the SFI logo on the applicable certified paper stock.
“These recent developments enable us to continue to broaden our offering of environmentally responsible products as well as to acknowledge the growing demand from some of our largest customers for envelope product made from certified raw materials”, said company CEO, Gilles Cyr.
Antony Marcil, President & CEO of FSC Canada added, “In this day and age environmental concerns are justifiably heightened; the market demands more environmentally respectful and socially conscious products. It is finally becoming commonplace for major corporations and government agencies in Canada, and around the world, to adjust their procurement policies to give preference to FSC-certified paper and wood products. We are delighted to have Canada’s largest envelope manufacturer on board.”
This announcement follows the company’s 2006 introduction of Canada’s first 100% degradable polyethylene mailers. Unlike traditional polyethylene mailer products used by courier companies etc., the company’s degradable mailer ultimately degrades in a landfill environment leaving only water, carbon dioxide and bio-mass.
