Supremex Inc., Canada’s largest provider of stock and custom manufactured envelopes was recently recognized as a top-tier resource partner at the Canadian Marketing Association’s Annual RSVP Awards Dinner. This formal acknowledgement reinforces the company’s dedication to continuous print quality improvement. Supremex’s Central Impression Flexography printing method caught the attention of even the most sophisticated mailers providing high quality, yet cost effective print. The award was submitted in response to the CMA’s call for entries in conjunction with Supremex’s agency customer, MC Direct with input from the end client, RBC Royal Bank who challenged Supremex to take flexography printing to a higher level.
“When MC Direct and RBC challenged us to improve our flexography quality, specifically to provide them with quantifiable improvements in registration, density, clarity and line screen, we immediately began to re-think our printing processes,” said Stacy Daly, Operations Manager, Central Region, “We have since invested both time and money into every stage of the printing process, from pre-press though to sophisticated machine fingerprinting processes with the help of Heidelberg Canada.”
By meeting these high objectives MC Direct was able to change a large portion of the Royal Bank acquisition envelope volume from high quality flat sheet lithography printing to a more cost effective method. By switching to C.I. Flexography, envelope turnaround time was improved by 133% - by streamlining the standard 3-stage production process down to one. Freight and shipping costs were eliminated as all printing and converting was done at the one location. Paper wastage was significantly reduced by switching from flat sheet to web rolls. Overall cost savings were over $100,000 annually.
Supremex currently has four C.I. Flexography print units in Canada. Recent testing has achieved up to 133-line screen on coated stock. Early in the new year Supremex will be installing a UV varnish printing station, which will enable the company to produce full coverage print with zero offsetting.
